Barry Morton Farm Mangement is directed by Senior Partner Barry R. Morton, Ph.D.

Dr. Morton brings a unique combination of education, agricultural consulting, farm production, and agricultural lending.

  • Ph.D. in agronomy, University of Florida
  • M.S. in agronomy, Pennsylvania State University
  • B.A. in English Literature, Brown University

As a consultant, Dr. Morton’s goal is to provide clients with factual information and management to advance goals and profit potential.  His expertise includes:

  • Farm plans, farm management, and loan negotiation
  • Enterprise analysis and liability management
  • Biomass production for bioenergy
  • Cap & trade carbon sequestration

During the Farm Bill debate, he served as the Director of Science and Technology for the National Association of Wheat Growers.

  • Participated in USDA/ARS and CSREES priority stakeholder workshops
  • Promoted biotechnology traits for wheat varieties
  • Researched production of bioenergy from biomass crops
  • Analyzed potential returns from carbon sequestration credits
  • Advocated for research funds from Congress and private enterprise

Dr. Morton owned and operated a large cash crop and confinement swine enterprise for 18 years in York County, Pennsylvania.

  • Crops included corn, soybeans, small grains, alfalfa, and potatoes
  • The swine operation consisted of 450 sows producing 9000+ pigs per year
  • His previous experience includes dairy and cattle production.
